If your boiler has started to sound like a boiling kettle or a whistling teapot, it is trying to tell you something. Those unusual noises are called boiler kettling, and while they are common, they should never be ignored.

What boiler kettling actually is

Boiler kettling is the term heating engineers use for loud bubbling, banging or whistling noises coming from a boiler. It often sounds as if the water inside is boiling hard, even though boilers are designed to heat water below boiling point.

These noises usually mean that water is struggling to move through the system properly or is getting too hot in one area. Over time, this can put extra strain on key components and reduce the efficiency of your heating.
